Uncalled Prejudice

Retrospection...what we all do at various moments in our lives. Well, I do it pretty frequently, considering the fact hat I need to come up with a sensible to update my blog with. Especially, after the usual hampering that my mom gives me for whiling away my time instead of doing something useful on my blog.
Mums, I tell you.

Okay, so on one of those instances when I was retrospecting, my thoughts went back to my Freshers Night and that was the first time I had a taxi ride at night with friends..GIRLFRIENDS. We had a lot of discussion about our safety and other concerns thoroughly and throughout the week before the party, with a lot of cajoling, I got all my friends to taking a cab and assuring safety by ME (Oh yes, me!), well, you'll get the Pun only if you've seen me cause I'm known as 'kaadi'. :'D

With thorough arrangements of bookings made by me for the night, every other iota of concern was put to rest. And, as Mumbaikar teen-girls, we were completely party-zoned on the eve of the freshers. But, then to the end of the night, as rang the message tone of my cell, I checked to realize it was the cab driver's details which had been messaged to me. With some unrequited interest, I glanced at the screen and locked it back into my pocket.

But, it was only after the two hours of carefree fun, when I had to call the driver, did I notice the name of the driver...nothing very unusual, just a Muslim name. With that Muslim name, came back the concerned thoughts of personal and peer safety. The revolving thoughts ended at nothing less that my own Rape. Yes, I went so much into introspecting my own rape, and Why? Because, I saw a Muslim name on my phone screen.
I personally have all my life felt and spoken about being the least prejudiced of every other person.

But, after such a long line of thought, just on the basis of a name which has brought distorted thoughts to my mind, how can I proudly state that, "I'm a secular citizen with not even an iota of mistrust lingering in my mind for my fellow citizens due to the different barriers amongst us?"

Think & Start Answering, to no one in particular, but to Yourself.
Do the differences or barriers actually affect our thoughts regarding a person?
If No, I appreciate you!
If yes, Why are we still so narrow minded living in the 21st century?
If you don't know, High time, you start introspecting, 'Cause I've begun. :)
